Masrour Barzani Receives US Diplomatic Delegation in Erbil

Chancellor of Kurdistan Region Security Council and the Prime Minister-designate Masrour Barzani received a diplomatic delegation of the United States on Monday.

US Ambassador to Iraq, Matt Tueller, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Iraq and Iran, Andrew Peek, US consul general in Erbil, Steven Fagin, and Kurdistan Region’s Representative to the US, Bayan Sami Abdulrahman, attended the meeting where they discussed the latest security and political developments.

Barzani briefed the guests on the ongoing process of forming his new cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government, noting that the efforts would be concluded within the legal timeline.

On prolonged Erbil-Baghdad disputes, Barzani reiterated that the Iraqi Constitution remains the best framework within which they could address the differences.

The US diplomats wished Barzani success during his next cabinet, and reiterated Washington’s support to further foster ties with Erbil.
