Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani received on Monday the US Ambassador to Iraq Matt Tueller for talks on the latest political developments in Iraq.
During the meeting, where the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Iraq and Iran Andrew Peek was present as well, the US officials reiterated their country's ties with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region in various areas, expressing happiness to see the relations between Erbil and Baghdad improving.
They also reaffirmed Washington's support in resolving the remaining issues between the federal and regional governments.
Barzani, in return, thanked the US for assisting the Kurdistan Region during hard times, stressing on the bilateral ties between the sides, and valuing a recent memorandum of understanding which was signed by officials from the US and Kurdistan Region's commerce chambers.
The Kurdish president additionally asserted that the US companies are welcome to utilise the region as a gate for their businesses with Iraq.
