Russian Consul General visits the Kurdistan Democratic Party Foreign Relation Office

Mr. Hoshyar Siwaily, Head of the Foreign Relations Office of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), received Mr. Oleg Levin, Consul General of the Russian Federation in the Kurdistan Region of Erbil. At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Siwaily, on behalf of the leadership of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, congratulated Mr. Levin on his new post, wishing him success. He expressed the willingness of the Foreign Relations Office  to coordinate and cooperate more with the consulate of the Russian Federation.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the current developments in the region in general and the Kurdistan Region and Iraq and in particularly final stages of the formation of the Kurdistan Regional Government. For his part, Mr. Levin thanked the warm reception of the Foreign Relations Office, praised the historical relationship of the people of Kurdistan and the Russian people, as well as the close relationship between the regional government and the federal government of Russia,  and hopes to develop and strengthen this relationship in various Areas. The Consul also discussed the nature of his new work and his adopted program to develop and strengthen the relationship with the Kurdistan Region in many different aspects such as trade, investment, academic and diplomatic aspects, and to serve the interests of both sides. He praised the relations between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government of Iraq, and talked about the opportunities available to the parties to resolve the outstanding issues for more than fifteen years, on the basis of the Constitution.

On the other side of the meeting, Mr. Siwaily discussed the visit of the President of the Kurdistan Region to Baghdad and his meeting with the representative of the United Nations Security Council  which was intended to help Iraq to resolve its internal problems  within the framework of the Constitution, and to stabilize federalism in Iraq. At the end of the meeting, the two sides stressed the need to exchange visits and hold a continuous dialogue and exchange views and views on all issues of common concern, as well as discuss ways to solve problems with Baghdad and based on the Iraqi Constitution, and always resort to the implementation of the provisions of the Constitution.
