President of the Kurdistan Region Meets with UK Delegation

President of the Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani received Senior Advisor to the UK’s Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant General Sir John Lorimer, the British Ambassador to Iraq Jon Wilks, the new British Consul General in the Kurdistan Region James Thornton and their accompanying delegation.

In the meeting, the security situation in Iraq in general, and the Kurdistan Region in particular, the relations between Erbil-Baghdad, training Peshmerga forces and the reform process of the Ministry of Peshmerga were discussed.

The delegation congratulated the President on assuming his new post, and they wished him success.

Additionally, the President congratulated the new British Consul General in the Kurdistan Region on his appointment and wished him every success.

Strengthening bilateral ties, support from the Coalition Countries and especially the UK to Iraq and the Kurdistan Region to combat terrorism and violence, rebuilding devastated areas in the war against Daesh and the return of refugees and displaces persons to their homes were also discussed in the meeting.
