Friendship with Kurds Will Be Remembered: Outgoing EU Ambassador

The outgoing European Union Ambassador to Iraq, Ramon Blecua, hailed his friendship with the Kurds by saying that it shall never be forgotten wherever he serves.

The remarks were made during Blecua’s meeting with Masoud Barzani, a prominent Kurdish political leader and the president of Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), on Saturday.

Blecua highlighted the ties between Kurdistan Region and the EU, hoping to further foster relations on different levels.

Barzani, in return, thanked the outgoing ambassador for his service in Iraq, wishing him success in his future role.

On the relations between Erbil and Baghdad, Barzani and Blecua both emphasized on the importance of continued dialogue to find common ground and resolve their prolonged disputes.
