Germany to Keep Military Advisors in Kurdistan

Kurdistan Region’s Interior Minister Rebar Ahmed and German Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer met on Wednesday in Erbil to discuss the continued partnership in the efforts to counter terror.

Kramp-Karrenbauer arrived in Erbil overnight on Tuesday and visited the German advisors stationed in Erbil earlier today.

She ensured the Kurdish officials that Germany will prolong the mandate to provide military trainings to the Peshmerga forces and continue its advisory role to the Kurdistan Region in the ongoing efforts to eradicate terror.

The German defense minister visited Baghdad a day earlier where she held a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi to discuss the anti-IS efforts.
