More villages may be evacuated in the Kurdistan Region's Qandil area as Turkey and the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) have intensified their military confrontation in the border region.
Talking to Kurdistan 24, Abdulrahman Hassan, a local from Bolle village in Qandil area, noted that the PKK's positions are close to the homes in the countryside and that the Turkish airstrikes usually cause casualties or serious damages to the villagers' properties.
Meanwhile, head of local administration in Sangasar town of Qalladza, Nahro Abdullah, pointed out that several villages have been evacuated due to the airstrikes in the past and that further evacuations are possible.
He also added that the military confrontation between Turkey and the PKK has affected tourism and agriculture in the area.
Earlier the week, an airstrike in Bolle village resulted in the wounding of two civilians.
