Kurdistan President Honors “Peshmerga Heroes” on Intl. Peace Day

Marking the International Day of Peace, Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani honored the Peshmerga forces for their heroic sacrifice to defend peace and coexistence in Kurdistan.

“On International Day of Peace, we honor our fallen Peshmerga heroes and those who made the ultimate sacrifice to secure peace, and defeat violence and extremism,” Barzani wrote on Twitter.

He reiterated Kurdistan Region’s commitment “to protect and promote peace” inside the region and beyond.

Each year, the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The UN General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples.
