Kurdistan PM, Coalition Commanders Discuss Coordination to Counter IS

Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Monday received Maj. Gen. Eric T. Hill, the Commanding General of Special Operations Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve, in Erbil where they discussed closer coordinations to counter terrorism.

PM Barzani emphasized that the Islamic State continues to pose a threat to the stability of the entire region from certain areas, which impedes the efforts to make a safe return for the IDPs possible.

He explained that the military coordinations between Erbil and Baghdad to eradicate IS were on good levels, which was welcomed by the Coalition commanders.

On the relations between Erbil and Baghdad, the prime minister of Kurdistan Region said they have received “positive signs” from the Iraqi federal government to resolve the disputes within the framework of the Iraqi Constitution.
