Agreement Between Erbil and Baghdad Serves All Iraqis' Interests: PM Barzani

Reaching an agreement to settle the disputes between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the Federal Government of Iraq would serve the interests of all the people in the country, said Prime Minister Masrour Barzani.

He made the remark during a meeting with a visiting US delegation led by Chief of Office of Security Cooperation – Iraq, Brigadier General Gregory Kreuder.

During the meeting, which was attended by KRG Peshmerga Minister Shorish Ismail and US Consul General Steve Fagin, the sides discussed a range of issues pertaining to the latest political and security developments in the region.

PM Barzani thanked the US and the Coalition state members for their support to the Kurdistan Region to defeat the Islamic State (IS). He also described the military coordinations between Erbil and Baghdad to eradicate the IS threats as “good”.

 

Concerning the relations between Erbil and Baghdad, PM Barzani explained that negotiations are ongoing to find a solution to the remaining disputes, which will serve the interests of all Iraqis.
