In hopes of developing stronger economic ties between Erbil and Athens, Greece’s foreign minister will visit the Kurdistan Region alongside a large economic delegation, country’s envoy in Iraq said.
The topic was discussed during a meeting between Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani and Greek Ambassador to Iraq Leonidas Kontovounesios on Monday.
The pair also discussed the importance of launching direct flights between Erbil and Athens as part of initiatives to further foster bilateral relations, according to the readout of the meeting.
Barzani emphasized that the Kurdistan Region has provided a favorable atmosphere for foreign investments, and it spares no efforts in facilitation of procedures for new businesses.
