The pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) has welcomed a message by the prominent Kurdish leader and former President of the Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani, to US President Donald Trump, in which, the Kurdish leader argued that "the blood of the Kurds is far more valuable than money and weapons."
Barzani's message came after Trump, in attempts to justify the withdrawal of the US troops from northeastern Syria, said that Washington had provided the Kurdish forces in Syria with money and weapons.
The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) slammed Washington's decision to pull the US forces out of Syria, and to give greenlight to a Turkish military incursion into the Middle Eastern country.
"Dear President Trump, please know that the people of Kurdistan have always pursued their just rights. The Peshmerga have defeated ISIS and are an effective part of the coalition against terror," Barzani wrote on Twitter to respond to Trump's comments.
"The blood of the Kurds is far more valuable than money and weapons. Thank you," he concluded.
Abid Ika, a HDP's representative to the Kurdistan Region, told BasNews on Thursday that Barzani's message "was very important," as Trump, he noted, wanted to open the subject of money and weapons to justify his decision.
"But Barzani told him that Kurds' blood is more valuable than money," he said.
Ika also reminded that the Kurdish leader deployed the Peshmerga forces to Kobani, in Syria, when the area was attacked by the Islamic State (IS), " and he now is urging Russia not to abandon the Kurds."
He further pointed out that Barzani's remarks have also been welcomed by the Kurdish people in Turkey, saying that it was a great statement for the Kurdish nation in Iraq, Iran, Syria, and Turkey.
