Kurdistan Region’s Peshmerga Minister Shorish Ismail will lead a high-level delegation to Baghdad today.
According to the information obtained by BasNews, the Peshmerga delegation will hold talks with the counterparts at the Iraqi Defense Ministry.
They are expected to mainly focus on the disputes between Erbil and Baghdad pertaining to Peshmerga and armed forces, especially their budget and their role in the contested areas.
According to Iraq’s 2019 budget, Baghdad is required to send 68 billion dinar to Erbil monthly as part of the Peshmerga share from the national budget. However, the allocation has not been sent to the Kurds during the past nine months.
