During a meeting between Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani and UK’s Defense Senior Adviser on the Middle East Lieutenant General Sir John Lorimer, latest security and political developments, as well as military cooperations between Erbil and London were discussed.
Barzani thanked the UK for its constant support to the Kurdistan Region to help the Peshmerga forces defeat the Islamic State (IS) and ward off the threat of terrorism.
Lorimer said his country will continue military support to the Kurdistan Region, including training of the Peshmerga forces.
The Kurdish and British officials emphasized on the importance of the close military coordination between the Peshmerga forces and Iraqi army in order to prevent the rebirth of IS.
The latest developments in Syria, including Turkey’s military action in north east of the country were also discussed between Barzani and Lorimer.
