PM Barzani, Senior British Military Delegation Discuss Syria, KRG Reform

Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Tuesday received a high-level British delegation led by Defence Senior Adviser on the Middle East, Lieutenant General Sir John Lorimer, in Erbil.

During the meeting, Barzani and the British delegation reviewed the lates political and security developments in the region, including the ongoing conflicts in Syrian Kurdistan.

They agreed that war and violence serves no one’s interests, and that it could lead to grave security challenges and humanitarian crisis if it continues.

Barzani and Lorimer also discussed the relations between Erbil and Baghdad, agreeing that a fundamental resolution to their disputes would serve all Iraqis.

The British delegation also commended the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) for its ongoing efforts towards reforms, especially at the Ministry of Peshmerga.
