Over 1800 Syrian Kurdish Refugees Arrive in Kurdistan

Basnews English 17/10/2019 -

ERBIL — Another group of 600 refugees recently displaced from their homes in Syrian Kurdistan by the Turkish military offensives arrived in Kurdistan Region on Thursday.

Salim Saeed, an official from Duhok province, said the 600 Kurdish refugees crossed the Semalke-Fishkhabour border crossing earlier today, and they will soon be transferred to Bardarash camp in Duhok where they will receive shelter and all basics.

Saeed revealed that the number of Syrian Kurdish refugees entering Kurdistan Region since the beginning of the Turkish offensives has reached 1,600 now.

They are being sheltered by Barzani Charity Foundation (BCF), which has already sent 20 trucks loaded with humanitarian aid to the displaced over the border in Syrian Kurdistan.

Since all international aid organizations have left Syria for security concerns under the current situation, BCF remains the sole charity delivering aid to the desperate IDPs.

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) ordered all its relevant authorities soon after the beginning of the crisis to spare no effort in delivering aid and receiving those seeking refuge at the Kurdistan Region border.
