The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) supports the steps by the Iraqi government towards reforms, PM Masrour Barzani said on Wednesday, noting that they also reject any violence in future possible demonstrations against the government.
Barzani made the remarks during a meeting of the Kurdistan Region's Council of Ministers on Wednesday, in which, he pointed out that the Iraqi people have every right to demand for their rights, but that peaceful means are needed to be pursued for this.
He also called on the Iraqi government to, however, spare no efforts to meet with people's demands, adding that stability in Iraq serves all peoples in the country, including the people of the Kurdistan Region.
Concerning the relations between Erbil and Baghdad and the remaining disputes between the sides, Barzani hoped that the issues will be resolved in accordance with the Iraqi Constitution, and that the federal government would take a positive step to address the issues raised by the autonomous region.
Meanwhile, the Kurdish prime minister expressed concerns over the recent developments in the Syrian Kurdistan, where hundreds of refugees are fleeing as a result of Turkish bombardments, noting that the Kurdistan Region has so far received thousands of civilians.
He reaffirmed the Kurdistan Region's readiness to do its best to help the affected civilians, but urged the international community and the federal government to assist the region in this regard.
