Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani has made it clear that Erbil would not support the plan for amending the Iraqi Constitution if fhe rights of the autonomous region are not preserved.
The Kurdish prime minister made the remarks during a meeting with a delegation from Al-Rafidain Center for Dialogue in Erbil to discuss the latest developments in Iraq.
He urged the center to play an effective role in getting the Iraqi sides together and make the efforts to protect the constitutional rights of the Kurdistan Region.
PM Barzani further pointed out that the tensions in Iraq are not because of the content of the Constitution, but a lack of implementation of it.
"We will not support any changes or amendments to the Constitution if the power and the constitutional rights of the Kurdistan Region are reduced," Barzani concluded.
