Kurdistan Democratic Party Foreign Relations Office (KDP-FRO) visits the Netherlands and meets with Political Parties

At the visit to the Netherlands, KDP-FRO delegation visited the Parliament in The Hague and met with Sevn Koopmans, Head of (VVD)’s Foreign Relation in the Dutch Parliament. (VVD) or the Peoples Party for Freedom and Democracy is the main party in the coalition government with Mark Rutte, leader of the party as the Prime Minister. He has visited Kurdistan Region in 2016 abd the firmer PM of KRI was received in The Hague in 2018.

The government and the people of Netherlands have been supporting Kurdistan since 1990s to date. Netherlands has been an important member of the International Coalition against ISIS and provided training to the Peshmerga, capacity building to our farmers and humanitarian assistance to the IDPs.

During the meeting a brief update on the current developments in Kurdistan Region and Iraq was provided with focuses on challenges and progresses in Baghdad-Erbil relationships, the priorities of the current KRG and issues related to ISIS revival. The Regional dynamics, in particular events in North East Syria and Iran were also discussed. As the issue of extending the Netherlands military mission in Iraq and Kurdistan Region, will be discussed in the Parliament next month, Head of the delegation Hoshyar Siwaily welcomed the proposal by the Foreign Ministry to support such an extension and wished a conclusive vote on the issue in the Parliament. From the meetings with other main parties, the delagation appriciate a broad support for the extension
