President Barzani Receives Archbishop Avak Asadourian

The President of the Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani received the Head of the Armenian Orthodox Church in Iraq, Archbishop Avak Asadourian and his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, President Barzani reiterated that the Kurdistan Region will continue to be a safe haven for all religious and ethnic components, stressing on the culture of coexistence, tolerance and the protection of the rights of Armenians and all components of the Kurdistan Region.

Archbishop Asadourian conveyed the appreciation of the Armenian Church’s to President Barzani for his continued support to the Armenian community in the Kurdistan Region.

The situation of Armenians in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq was discussed, as well as the affairs of the monasteries and churches in Zakho, Duhok and Erbil.
