UAE Promises Continued Support to IDPs in Kurdistan

Kurdish prominent leader and the president of ruling Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), Masoud Barzani, on Tuesday received the United Arab Emirates consul general, Ahmad al-Zaheri, to discuss bilateral ties and latest developments in the region.

During the meeting, the UAE diplomat briefed Barzani on his country’s contribution to the international efforts for supporting the IDPs and refugees in Kurdistan.

He said that the UAE will remain committed to the efforts and it will continue assisting the Kurdistan Region which hosts over 1.1 million refugees and IDPs.

The current political situation in Iraq and the wider region were also on the agenda of the discussion.
