President Nechirvan Barzani Receives UK Ambassador to Iraq

President Nechirvan Barzani received the new ambassador of the United Kingdom to Iraq, Stephen Hickey.

President Barzani congratulated Ambassador Hickey on his new appointment and wished him success in his duties. He also reaffirmed Kurdistan Region’s willingness to further improve relations with the United Kingdom.

In the meeting, both sides discussed the latest developments in Iraq and ongoing demonstrations, as well as expectations related to the future political process of the country.

They discussed the relations of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region with the United Kingdom, the threat of ISIS terrorist resurgence and its recent terrorist activities in a number of locations in Iraq. The situation in Syria and the wider region was also discussed in the meeting.
