Kurdish Prominent leader and the president of ruling Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), Masoud Barzani, on Saturday received high-level delegation from the Iraqi government led by acting Prime Minister Adil Abdul Mahdi.
During the meeting, Barzani and Abdul Mahdi discussed the recent tensions between the United State and Iran in the region, bilateral ties between Erbil and Baghdad, and the ongoing battle against the threat of the Islamic State.
On the prolonged issues between the Kurdistan Region and Iraqi government, the leaders welcomed the “positive atmosphere” that has been created to address the remaining disputes.
Barzani emphasized the Constitution should remain the framework through which Erbil and Baghdad work together to address their differences.
“We discussed the recent developments in Iraq and the region and reviewed the options of resolving the current issues. The Prime Minister and I agree that the issues should be addressed and solved in accordance with the Iraqi Constitution,” Barzani wrote on Twitter.
