Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Monday received Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Iraq, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, in Erbil to discuss a range of issues, including the regional tensions and Iraq’s hardship.
The Kurdish prime minister and UN envoy emphasized that all parties should realize the fragility of the situation as Iraq is going through a difficult time.
They agreed on the necessity of an immediate de-escalation to the regional tensions, noting that the crisis would not serve the Iraqis and other nations in the region, according to the readout of the meeting.
Continuing efforts to strengthen the ties between Erbil and Baghdad was among other topics discussed by PM Barzani and Plasschaert.
