President Masoud Barzani and US Envoy Discuss Developments in Region

President Masoud Barzani received Mr. Steven Fagin, the United States Consul General to Erbil today at the Barzani Headquarters.

 

During the meeting, the two sides spoke of the latest developments in Iraq and in the Kurdistan Region. Consul General Fagin and President Barzani also discussed the process of the power vacuum in Iraq following pressure from the protesters in Baghdad and elsewhere in Iraq. President Barzani reiterated his stance of filling that position in accordance to the Constitution. President Barzani also stated that the wave of the peaceful protesters in Iraq will hopefully lead to more prosperity for all Iraqis.

Consul General Fagin expressed his appreciation to the Kurdistan Region’s reasonable approaches to handling the crisis in Baghdad, adding that he also hoped for a calmer situation as the various political components attempt to resolve the situation.
