Kurdistan President Discusses Various Issues with World Leaders in Davos

On the sidelines of the second day of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani held several meetings with other world leaders, discussing various topics.

Barzani's office said in a statement that the Kurdish president met with Shinichi Kitaoka, the president of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), on Wednesday, adding that he "expressed Kurdistan Region’s gratitude and appreciation for the work and the projects of JICA, which has been providing services" in the autonomous region for several years.

JICA’s President, in return, reaffirmed his agency's support to the Kurdistan Region, while appreciating Kurdistan Regional Government's (KRG) coordination in facilitating the implementation of JICA’s projects in the region, the statement added.

Barzani, in a separate meeting with Saudi Arabia's FM Prince Faisal bin Farhan al-Saud, discussed the recent political and security affairs in Iraq and the wider region, stressing on the need to defuse the tensions in the country.

The pair also exchanged views on Saudi Arabia's relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

Barzani, apart from US President Donald Trump, discussed a range of topics with other leaders in Davos on Wednesday.
