PM Barzani Reaffirms KRG's Commitment to Diversifying Economy

Prime Minister Masrour Barzani chaired the first meeting of the Economic High Council of the Kurdistan Region on Monday, during which he reaffirmed his cabinet's commitment to diversifying and modernizing its economy.

The council convened with a number of ministers and governors for talks on the financial situation in the Kurdistan Region, Barzani's office said in a statement.

"During the meeting, Prime Minister Barzani emphasised the need to establish a roadmap for economic growth with policies that will update the tax system, reduce excessive and unnecessary expenditures and increase national revenues," reads the statement.

The Kurdish premier further pointed out that the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) would also work to attract local and foreign investors.

"Prime Minister Barzani underlined his cabinet's commitment to diversifying and modernising the economy of the Kurdistan Region to attract local and foreign investors and encourage growth across all sectors."
