Dozens of new refugees from Syria arrived in the Kurdistan Region on Wednesday, as civilians continue to flee from the war-affected areas in the neighboring country.
The Joint Crisis Cooperation Center (JCC) of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) explained in a statement that at least 35 refugees were received from the border crossing of Sihela on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the refugees are "temporarily" sheltered in Zumar due to weather conditions and blocked roads.
Since 14th October, the press release added, the KRG has received a total of 20,695 refugees from Syria.
As a result of the Turkish offensive against the Kurdish forces in northeastern Syria, which begun on 9th October, hundreds of civilians were either killed or wounded, despite the displacement of hundreds of thousands of others.
