The Kurdistan Region will support the future Iraqi government if it preserves the constitutional rights of the autonomous region, PM Masrour Barzani said on Friday.
Barzani made the remarks during a meeting with Iraqi Defense Minister Najah al-Shammari on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference 2020 in Germany, where they discussed the latest developments in Iraq.
Barzani's office said in a statement that the Kurdish premier made it clear that the Kurdistan Region will have no issues with the next government in Baghdad as long as it is welcomed by all components.
The pair stressed on the importance of restoring stability in the region, according to the statement.
Barzani and Shammari further discussed closer cooperations between the Peshmerga fighters and Iraqi forces to face the continuous threat of terrorism in the country.
