PM Barzani, Bulgarian Counterpart Discuss Bilateral Ties

Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with his Bulgarian counterpart Boyko Borissov on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference 2020 in Germany, where they discussed the bilateral ties between the sides.

"Great to meet with @boykoborissov. We agreed strengthening bilateral economic ties will improve prosperity for both our peoples," Barzani wrote on Twitter.

During the meeting, the Bulgarian prime minister pointed out that they view the people of the Kurdistan Region as their friends, reiterating his country's readiness to further strengthen relations between the autonomous region and Bulgaria, especially in the fields of agriculture, tourism, and energy, Barzani's office said in a statement.

He also invited PM Barzani to visit Bulgaria, the statement added.

The two officials additionally exchanged views on the closer cooperations between the two sides to face terrorism in the region.

The Kurdish premier also briefed his Bulgarian counterpart with KRG's agenda, one of the main goal of which is to provide more opportunities to local and foreign investment.
