President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), Masoud Barzani, received on Sunday a US congressional delegation, led by Jim Inhofe, to discuss the latest developments in Iraq.
"Pleased to receive a U.S. congressional delegation headed by @JimInhofe. We discussed the latest developments in Iraq and the process of forming the new government," Barzani wrote on Twitter.
According to a statement by his office, Barzani, who previously served as President of the Kurdistan Region, and the US delegates further shed light on the bilateral ties between Erbil and Washington.
The Kurdish influential leader thanked the US for its prolonged support to the Kurdistan Region during the war against the Islamic State (IS), the statement added.
Meanwhile, Barzani added in his statement on Twitter that they "also exchanged views on the state of the terrorists of the Islamic State and ways to prevent their activities."
