President Barzani Receives a British Delegation to Discuss the Latest Developments

President Masoud Barzani received a British diplomatic delegation today to discuss the latest developments in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. The British delegation was headed by Mr. Stephen Hickey, the UK ambassador to Iraq.

President Barzani and ambassador Hickey discussed the ongoing COVID-19 crisis which has a direct impact on the entirety of the world and has especially had a great economic impact on world markets. They also spoke of the political situation in Iraq and the Baghdad-Erbil relations especially insofar as the agreement between the two is concerned. President Barzani reiterated his optimism about the future of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq and stated that it is of immense importance for all citizens to abide by the health regulations concerning COVID-19.

President Barzani and ambassador Hickey also spoke of the ongoing threat posed by the terrorists of the Islamic State and made reference to the recent attack by the terrorists in the villages of Dara and Mekhas in the Khanaqin area, along the Iraq-Iran border which resulted in the killing of several Kakai civilians.
