President Masoud Barzani sent a message of congratulations to the Yazidis on the occasion of choosing a new Baba Sheikh (Spiritual Leader) of the Yazidis to succeed the late Baba Sheikh. 

The congratulatory message reads:

On the occasion of choosing the new Baba Sheikh of the Yazidis, I congratulate Mir Hazem, the Yazidi Spiritual Council and all the Yazidi sisters and brothers.

I hope that the choice of a new Baba Sheikh will be a basis for unity and harmony between the Yazidi community and Yazidkhan, and that it will be a door to goodness and transcendence of pain, suffering, life of displacement and migration, and an end to the decrees and genocide that affected the Yazidi Kurds.

I send my special congratulations to Baba Sheikh and I wish him success in his new duties in serving the Yazidi community and religion.

In conclusion, we affirm the protection of the exclusivity of the Yazidi religion and all other components in Kurdistan, and the consolidation of the spirit of coexistence and the acceptance others in Kurdistan.
