Kurdistan Region President receives Yezidi activist Nadia Murad

The President of the Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani received Yezidi activist Ms. Nadia Murad.

The President commended Ms. Murad’s advocacy work for the Yezidi people and reaffirmed the Kurdistan Region’s readiness to fully support her efforts to shed more light on the plight of the Yezidi people.

The President pledged to continue working closely with the government of Iraq and the international community to improve security conditions in Shingal and to assist the displaced Yezidis to return to their home areas. Ms. Murad thanked the President for his support of the Yezidi community.

Also discussed were efforts to return the remains of the Yezidi victims to the Kocho village and the Bagdad-Erbil agreement on the status of Shingal district.
