President Masoud Barzani received Hazem Tahsin Beg, Emir of the Yazidis

During the meeting, the situation of the Yazidi sisters and brothers, the situation in Shingal, and the challenges facing the process of normalizing the life of the Yazidis in the Shingal area were shed light. Prince Hazem Beg, Baba Sheikh Ali and the members of the Yazidi Spiritual Council expressed their gratitude to President Barzani for his constant compassion to the plight of the Yazidis.

They call on President Barzani to devote all his efforts in order to enable the Yazidis to return to their areas and live in safety, and work to remove the obstacles facing the implementation of the Shingal agreement signed between the Kurdistan Regional Govement and the Federal Government of Iraq, as soon as possible. The guest delegation also called for the Yazidis to have a reasonable role and share in the region's institutions.

In the same meeting, President Barzani reiterate his support for the aspirations and demands of the Yazidi sisters and brothers, indicating that the Peshmerga forces protected and sheltered the Yazidis, and during the war against ISIS and for the sake of liberating Shingal, the Peshmerga forces sacrificed (500) martyrs.

His Excellency also stressed the need to implement the agreement related to Shingal, calling for the Yazidis to maintain the unity of their community and to prevent fragmentation and any effort that harms their unity, identity and the Yazidi religion. He also stressed the need for the Yazidis to insist for their legitimate rights and demands.
