A statement by the official spokesperson of the Kurdistan Democratic Party

An outlawed group who has gone astray and has disguised under the mantle of the Popular Mobilization Forces using their capabilities, privileges, and uniforms at 9:30 last night, corresponding to February 15, 2021, carried out a cowardly operation where a number of rockets directed at Erbil caused a number of human casualties, material damages and disturbing the comfort of the citizens of the city of Erbil. Their aim was to undermine security and stability in the capital of the Kurdistan Region.

We, in the Kurdistan Democratic Party, condemn and rebuke this wicked terrorist operation.

We call on the federal Iraqi Government and the International Coalition, led by the United States of America, in addition to condemning these hostile acts, to expedite the necessary investigations and bring the responsible parties to justice according to the law.

With great regret, these acts were repeated more than once, and because the perpetrators were not brought to justice and brought to trial, these violent groups increased their audacity and persisted in their acts of sabotage and the continuation of terrorist crimes. We know clearly that the mentality of such fascist cliques, which is far from contemporary civilized thought, does reconcile with the progress, stable security and well-being of the people of the Kurdistan Region, and they cannot accept national and religious coexistence in Kurdistan. That is why they implement what they are told to do.

We announce to everyone that continuing with this deal with the Kurdistan Region in general and Erbil, the capital in particular, will not have positive results, and despite the instability of the situation in Iraq and the chaos, crises and confusion it suffers in all areas, such terrorist acts will add insult to injury and further increase chaos and instability.

In addition to our full support for the Kurdistan Regional Government and all defense and security institutions, we announce that all members of the leadership, our cadres and our members, as we have been the solid steel fence, we will remain so and follow the same approach and conviction to protect the entity of the Kurdistan Region, the government and the citizens of the Region.
