The representatives of both the Peshmerga and Interior Ministries in the operations room of the Joint Iraqi Department declared that bridging the security gap between the Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi army is very necessary. The Iraqi government has come to believe in the necessity of bridging the gap, so it is requesting the support of the Peshmerga.
A spokesman for the Iraqi Joint Operations Command said that they and the Peshmerga forces had concentrated their forces to fill the security vacuums between the Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi forces, and Abdul Khaleq Talaat, of the official website of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, said that when the security gap was closed, the enemies of ISIS and their terrorists could not do so easily, so it was filling spaces absolutely necessary.
"If we know that there is a danger to the Kurdistan Region and the security gap, we will fill it with support from the Peshmerga and we will not allow any danger to the region," Talat said.
He also indicated that the Iraqi army and government forces felt that the gap was hurting them and that they needed to be filled in cooperation with the Peshmerga, as ISIS attacks daily.
The representative of both the Ministry of Peshmerga and the Interior in the operation room of the Iraqi joint section also said: “Our meeting was held in Makhmur with Sirwan Barzani and the commander of the 14th Brigade in Makhmur, in which it was mentioned that there are security vacuums in those places that need to be filled and we expect to meet again to discuss and designate the other areas.
