Participating in the opening ceremony of the Armenian Consulate General in the Kurdistan Region

A delegation from the Kurdistan Democratic Party Foreign Relations Office (KDP-FRO) participated in the official opening of the Consulate General of the Republic of Armenia in the Kurdistan Region.

Hoshyar Siwaily, head of the KDP-FRO, participated in the formal opening of the Consulate General of the Republic of Armenia in the presence of Mr. Artak Apitonian, deputy foreign minister of Armenia, to supervise the official inauguration. Representatives of the Kurdistan Regional Presidency, Regional Government, Kurdistan Parliament, political party and representative of different components of Kurdistani's society were present.

Deputy Foreign Minister Artak Apitonian, delivered a speech and spoke about the strong friendship and historical relationship between the people and the government of both sides, and then the Armenian Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, Mr. Arshak Manoukian, delivered a welcoming speech and thanked the people and the government of Kurdistan for their support and facilities in the opening of his country's general consulate. During the ceremony, Mr. Siwaily met with Deputy Minister, Mr. Apitonian and reiterate leadership’s support to facilitate the work of the Armenian consulate, hoping that both sides continue to work to strengthen and expand relations between Kurdistan and Armania in all aspects of life.

During the event, head of KDP-FRO met with the General Consulate of Armenia, Japan, China, and many other diplomats, political representatives and representative of the different components of the Kurdistan Region and emphasized on working together in the interest of the people of Kurdistan. Armenian Parliament member Rostam Bakori, who is Kurdish, gave a Kurdish-language speech. This shows that in spite of dividing factors, Kurdistan and the Kurdish people are united by language and cultural and historical background.

The expansion of the Region's diplomatic and political relations will have an affect on the position and protection of the Kurdistan Region's interests. Foreign representatives in the Region are increasing, and there are more than 40 now, and with more in the near future. The Kurdistan Democratic Party Foreign Relations Office has played a good and positive role in this field and will continue its duties to serve the people of Kurdistan.
