A Village Vacated in Duhok Due to PKK-Turkey Conflicts

A village in Amedi district of Duhok province, Kurdistan Region, was vacated due to the ongoing military confrontations between the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and Turkish army, a report revealed on Tuesday.

Kurdistan 24 cited its correspondent in the area as reporting that the residents vacated the village of Kesta, in Kani Masi subdistrict, due to conflicts between the two sides and the Turkish bombardments on the PKK positions in the region.

According to the report, armed confrontations have been ongoing between the PKK and Turkish forces in the village over the past few days, causing panic among the locals.

Turkish forces have lately carried out a number of operations in the area against the PKK guerillas.

Turkey views the PKK as a "terrorist organisation" and there is an armed conflict between the sides for over three decades over the Kurdish question in the country.
