The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) council of ministers believes that the approval of a specialized ISIS court was important and essential step. They also say this is a vital step to identifying the genocide of the different ethnicities. "The establishment of the special court for ISIS has being approved by the KRG's Council of Ministers and subsequently referred to KRG parliament to come to a decision for the current session, in absence of specialized court all recent trials have been held in accordance with the anti-terrorism law," said Kermanj Osman, an adviser to the Ministry of Justice for International Affairs. "If this law is passed by KRG parliament future ISIS trials will be conducted in accordance with international law,’’ This would be to our satisfaction if ISIS previous atrocities could be considered genocide at the local level, which is the demand of ISIS victims," Kirmanj told the official website of the Kurdistan Democratic Party. "People were demanding the establishment of this court, because previous trials of ISIS member were ensued under local court and under the Iraqi penal code, which use to diminish those cases, and if this law is passed, it will be internationally acknowledged, this would be a very good step," he added. "Baghdad had a legal draft for this court, but the role of the Kurdistan was not as effective as we and the Victims would have liked, but now we think this step wills serves the Kurdistan Region and would mean more to the victims and brings us closer to evidences and mass graves," he said. "Establishing a specialized court to trial ISIS is somewhat grants the rights of the components, because they were the ones who were massacred, Yazidis and Christians suffered huge losses" said Robina Tiare, Christian member of the Legal Committee of the Kurdistan Parliament. "We are waiting to vote on this bill in parliament, consequently ISIS will be punished internationally and this will be a step towards identifying their atrocities as genocide and mass murdering against the components," Robina Tiare told the official website of the Kurdistan Democratic Party. Esmet Mir Tahsin Bag, son of the late Yazidi prince, Mir Tahsin Bag said."We support the steps taken by the Kurdistan Regional Council of Ministers to prepare the law of Criminal Court for ISIS crimes in the Kurdistan Region," he added "We hope that the bill of the Criminal Court for ISIS crimes in the Kurdistan Region can be establish to served the Yazidis with the International Investigation Team contributions such as (United). "We hope this will be a good step towards recognizing the Yazidi concern as genocide and that those ISIS members who committed genocide against the Yazidis would serve their realistic punishment," he said. "Although nothing in this world would compensates the Yazidi mothers and sisters. However, ensuing actions should set example for investigating ISIS crimes. We believe that what was done against the Yazidis by all measures was genocide.
