Kurdish prominent leader and the President of Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), Masoud Barzani, on Sunday received an Iraqi delegation led by National Security Advisor Qasem al-Araji in Erbil.
During the meeting, also attended by several Iraqi top commanders, the sides reviewed the latest developments and continuous threats posed by the Islamic State (IS) to the stability of the Kurdish disputed areas, according to a statement from Barzani Headquarters.
Barzani and Araji emphasized on the importance of joint efforts between the Peshmerga and Iraqi forces to counter terrorism in the country and secure the disputed territories.
The bilateral relations between Erbil and Baghdad, as well as the situation in Sinjar, were also on the agenda of the meeting, the statement added, without providing further details.
