A vast area of Kurdish-owned farmland on Sunday burned in the disputed areas near Tuz Khurmatu, north of Salahaddin province.
The fire has burned more than 18 dunam (approximately 5 acres) of wheat, Tuz Khurmatu Police Chief Brigadier General Hussein Ali told Media.
The incident had taken place early in the morning in Shasaywan village. Firefighters soon rushed to control the blaze before it could devastate a larger area, Ali added.
An investigation is now underway to determine if the fire was a sabotage or a result of the high temperature in the recent days.
