President Barzani’s statement on the occasion of the forty-fifth anniversary of the Gulan Revolution

In the name of Allah the Gracious the Merciful

The Gulan Revolution was a rich experience of steadfastness, reorganization, and recovery of the people of Kurdistan. Despite the difficulties of the post-setback circumstances, displacement and exposure to the various pressures of the enemies of the people of Kurdistan, it was possible to launch the Gulan Revolution according to a firm program and with solid confidence. The Gulan Revolution was also the message that was addressed to all the haters and the enemies of the people of Kurdistan, which confirmed that despite the existence of conspiracies, threats, and the strength of the enemies and various obstacles, the people of Kurdistan possess the will to fight to confront injustice, and the will to transfer their struggle and fight to its true arena, which is the holy land of Kurdistan.

The Gulan Revolution carried the message and goals of the great September Revolution, as it was an extension of all previous Kurdish revolutions, and proved to the haters that the revolutionary and free will of Kurds will never be broken.

The Gulan Revolutionstarted its first spark with the first activity of the Peshmerga in the Haji Omran region, on May 26, 1975, and martyr Sayyid Abdullah was the first martyr of the Gulan Revolution,

On the forty-fifth anniversary of the launch of the Gulan Revolution, we salute the pure souls of the martyrs of the Gulan Revolution, and all the martyrs of the Kurds and Kurdistan, and we affirm that we owe the freedoms and gains achieved for the people of Kurdistan  to the blood and sacrifices of our martyrs.I also express my appreciation and gratitude for the struggle and efforts of the heroic fighters who have become the source of pride of their people because of their sacrifices and their performance in their honourable roles in the Peshmerga struggle and in party work and the secret struggle inside cities and during asylum and exile.
