President Masoud Barzani receives the UAE consul in Erbil and the UAE Red Crescent delegation

On May 26, 2021, President Masoud Barzani received the Consul General of the United Arab Emirates in Erbil, Mr. Ahmed Elzahirî and the UAE Red Crescent delegation headed by Dr. MuhemedElfelahî, Secretary-General of the UAE Red Crescent.

During the meeting, the guest delegation thanked the people of Kurdistan for opening their doorto hundreds of thousands of displaced persons and refugees and expressed appreciation for President Barzani's effort in promoting a culture of coexistence and tolerance in the Region. They also referred to the important steps achieved in the Kurdistan Region in the areas of economic infrastructure, development, and reconstruction, despite the existence of many obstacles. In another part of the meeting, the guest delegation updated President Barzani on their current humanitarian activities and actions in Kurdistan and Iraq.

For his part, President Barzani praised the work and activities of the UAE Red Crescent, and described the United Arab Emirates as a close friend to the people of Kurdistan. President Barzani also expressed his appreciation for the support and assistance to the Kurdistan region with regards to displaced persons and refugees.

President Barzani also expressed his special appreciation to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and the leadership of the United Arab Emirates, for their outstanding role in their country's progress and deepening relations between the Kurdistan Region and the United Arab Emirates.
