Seven More Villages in South of Kirkuk Vacated Due to IS Threats

Seven more villages have recently vacated in south of Kirkuk province as the Islamic State (IS) continues to threaten civilian lives.

Daquq Mayor Luis Fandi told BasNews on Saturday that the villages on the road between Daquq and Rashad subdistricts have recently been emptied.

“IS militants were repeatedly storming the villages to ask the people for food and other supplies or threatening them,” the mayor said.

He also criticized the government security forces for failing to address the threats which could possibly lead to more villages being emptied.
