Today, seventy-four years have passed since the historical saga of the immortal Barzani and his companions crossing the Aras River. On June 18, 1947, after fifty-three days of fighting and crossing the Iranian, Iraqi and Turkish borders, confronting the armies and militants of three countries and thwarting the threats of the enemies, and during a long and arduous march, the immortal Barzani, with his comrades, was able to cross the Aras River and reach the territory of the Soviet Union.
This epic had great national, historical, political and military dimensions, and had a decisive impact on the continuation of the legitimate Kurdish cause in that stage and the subsequent stages.
After the overthrow of the Republic of Kurdistan in Mahabad, the enemies intensified all their efforts to end the struggle and struggle of the oppressed Kurdish people and to undermine the will of the Kurdish man. But in that historical epic, the will of our people triumphed over the plots and plots of the enemies, and it proved that the will to continue the struggle and not surrender to the people of Kurdistan will continue and remain stronger than all the conspiracies, armies and forces of the enemies.
The historical epic of the immortal Barzani and his companions crossing the Aras River was an absolute rejection of occupation and slavery, and kept the hope of liberation and struggle alive in the hearts of the Kurds.
