President Masoud Barzani mentioned the reasons for the ISIS uprising and stressed that the threat of terrorism and ISIS still exists because of the reasons that led to the rise of ISIS.

President Masoud Barzani received Josep Borrell, Vice President of the European Commission and in charge of European Foreign Policy and Security.

 

During the meeting, the Vice President of the European Commission praised the role of President Masoud Barzani throughout the history of the people of Kurdistan's struggle for freedom and the struggle for achieving a better and peaceful life. He also expressed his appreciation for the role of the Peshmerga forces in the fight against terrorism and the welcoming of hundreds of thousands of refugees and IDP’s. He reiterated the importance of security, freedom and well-being of the people of Kurdistan to the European Union and reaffirmed the European Union's support for the people of Kurdistan.

 

During the meeting, President Barzani thanked the allies for their assistance to the people of Kurdistan in the fight against terrorism and stressed that if any nation has the will to resist, the assistance of its friends and allies, it will have a positive effect.

 

The threat of ISIS terrorists was another topic of the meeting and President Barzani explained the reasons for the ISIS uprising and stressed that the threat of terrorism and ISIS still exists because of the reasons that led to the rise of ISIS. President Barzani also stated that the rich culture of integration among the people of Kurdistan has prevented terrorists from establishing a foothold among our people.

 

They also shed light on the upcoming elections in Iraq and both sides hoped that a clean and fair election would take place and that the results would lead to change and stability and the fulfillment of the wishes of the people.
