President Masoud Barzani, Allawi Discuss Political Process in Iraq

President Masoud Barzani , received on Saturday Ayad Allawi, head of the Iraqi National Alliance, in Erbil where they discussed the political process in Iraq.

During their meeting, the two leaders exchanged views on the latest developments in regards with the political process across Iraq, including the parliamentary elections scheduled for the upcoming October

Both sides highlighted the challenges facing the preparations underway for the parliamentary vote as well as the peaceful coexistence in the country.

Iraq has set the parliamentary elections for 10 October, 2021. It had previously been scheduled for June 21. There are still some indirect efforts by a number of factions to postpone the vote once again but the country's Prime Minister, Mustafa al-Kadhimi, has expressed his determination to hold the elections on time.
