President Masoud Barzani received Elbrus Kutrashev Russian Ambassador and Discuss IS Threat in Iraq and Syria

President Masoud Barzani  received Russian delegation led by the country’s new ambassador Elbrus Kutrashev to discuss the ongoing efforts to eradicate the Islamic State (IS) among other topics.

Barzani emphasized that uprooting terror requires international cooperation. He also noted that the efforts to eradicate IS in Iraq and Syria should be in parallel.

The President of Kurdistan Democratic Party and Russian ambassador also shed light on the political challenges and the forthcoming parliamentary elections in Iraq, agreeing that the stability of Iraq could impact the entire region.

Ambassador Kutrashev arrived in Erbil on Monday and met with Kurdistan Region president and prime minister the same day, expressing his country’s willingness to expand relations with Erbil in different areas of mutual interest.
