IS Shells Two Villages in Kirkuk

Islamic State (IS) militants on Sunday night fired rockets at two villages in Kirkuk province.

A local police source told news agency that the rockets had fell in open areas in the villages of Shmet and Sabbaqiya.

No casualties were reported and the launching location of the rockets is yet to be found, the source added.

Shmet and Sabbaqiya villages are located near Hawija district, some 55 kilometers to the southwest of Kirkuk.

The area is frequently challenged by IS attacks, targeting both the security forces and civilians.
